Project Scope
Graycor Industrial completed a wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) project for American Electric Power (AEP) at its Cardinal Plant in Brilliant, Ohio. Construction of the 18-month project consisted of retrofitting AEP’s 630-megawatt Unit 3 with equipment to reduce sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions. More than 1,700 tons of structural steel were used to construct six structures. In addition, more than 65,000 linear feet of interconnecting process piping (more than 12 miles) were utilized for the project.
Due to the site’s space constraints, well before the project began Graycor’s team utilized building information modeling (BIM) project management software to coordinate the logistics of the project.
