Project Scope

Graycor Construction was the general contractor for one Crate and Barrel’s uniquely designed stores: a new 32,500-square-foot, two-story home store located in the northwestern Chicago suburb of Geneva, Illinois. The specialty retailer chose Graycor to provide preconstruction and construction services for this trendsetting retail store located within lifestyle center Geneva Commons.

To meet Crate and Barrel’s exceptional standards of quality as well as its grand opening deadline required Graycor’s expert planning, coordination and attention to detail. In order to maintain control over the budget and schedule, Graycor provided preconstruction services from the schematic and conceptual stages all the way through design development and construction as a way of achieving the design while maintaining the budget and improving overall cost control on the project.

Several high-end finishes were used in the interior build-out including zinc, corrugated metal, maple hardware floors, integral-colored concrete, pickled pine, stained cedar and maple-paneled ceilings. In addition, cedar, stone and metal panels were incorporated into the exterior design.
